The Best Way to Store Your Vapes

Airo vapes are made to be sturdy and long-lasting – so how you store them doesn’t matter, right? Well, no. Proper storage is crucial for maintaining the life of your vape cart. The way you store your vape has a direct impact on how long it lasts and how good it is while you’re using it.

Here’s how Airo recommends storing your AiroPods and disposable vapes for longevity and preventing problems.

How to Store Vapes Properly

The short answer is that vapes need to be stored upright in a dark, temperature-stable environment.

This is the best way to store your vape to preserve the integrity of the concentrate and prevent leaking or clogging in the cartridge. Exposure to light and heat can degrade cannabinoids and change the experience of your vape, so it’s important to keep it in a dark, cool place.

The best way to store your cannabis vape is upright at room temperature in a dark place with the cartridge detached from the base. Disposable vapes should be stored the same way, with the vape cart attached.

Where to Store Your Vape

Many people find success keeping their vapes in a bedside drawer, in a box in a closet or tucked in the back of a cabinet. If you have children around (or nosy housemates) investing in a lockbox can be helpful to keep your products (and your household) safe.

Creative Ways to Store Cannabis Vapes

If you have multiple Airopods that you’re switching between, you may want to invest in a cart holder, designed to keep the small cartridges upright. Anecdotal reports on the internet also suggest keeping your carts upright in:

  • A shotglass
  • The original packaging
  • Old preroll tubes
  • A shoebox in the closet
  • Toilet paper roll
  • Test tube rack
  • A vape cart tray
  • Lipstick holder
  • Small desk organizer

You don’t have to buy something new to keep your vapes stored properly – all it takes is a little care and creativity.

The Importance of Storing Cannabis Vapes Properly

Storing your vapes properly has a direct impact on your vape experience.

THC is not a shelf-stable compound. It can degrade due to light, heat, or humidity exposure, changing the makeup of your cannabis vapes. Proper storage is crucial to preserve the integrity of your vape cartridge and keep your live resin or Artisan series vape cartridges just as delicious and potent as they were on your first hit.

Vapes can be delicate pieces of technology. While Airo vapes are built to be sturdy and long-lasting, improper storage can cause leaks from the cart, which can ruin a battery. Not storing your vapes correctly can also lead to clogged cartridges, which can be frustrating when you’re ready for a cannabinoid boost. Storing your vapes properly helps avoid issues and keeps your carts hitting smoothly.

FAQs About Storing Cannabis Vapes

Do vapes have to be kept upright?

Yes, it is best for vape cartridges to be kept in an upright position to minimize potential problems like leaks or clogs. Vapes kept on their side are more prone to leaking and clogging, two frustrating problems for vape lovers. (But if it happens, we can help you through it.)

Can I keep my vapes in the fridge?

Airo does not recommend keeping your vapes or cartridges in the fridge. While the fridge is dark, cool, and relatively temperature stable, taking your vapes in and out of the fridge exposes them to temperature swings and moisture buildup. Moisture buildup in a vape cartridge will ruin your oils fast.

Some people will store unopened vape carts in the fridge and bring them to room temperature before using them, but we don’t recommend this strategy. Keep your vapes tucked away somewhere dark and temperature-stable, like a cabinet or a lockbox.

Can I leave my vape in my car?

We don’t recommend keeping your vape in your car for two reasons. First, cars are not environmentally stable and can have huge fluctuations in temperature, from below freezing in the winter to dangerously hot in the summer. Exposure to light and heat is not good for vape carts. Secondarily, many states do not allow you to store cannabis in your car legally. Keep your vape inside with you for the smoothest hits.

Do I need a fireproof container to store my vapes?

Probably not. Reports of vaporizers spontaneously combusting can worry consumers, however, most of these reports deal with e-cigarette vapes, not cannabis vapes. E-cigarette vapes use different hardware than Airo vapes do. There are fireproof containers that you can buy to store your vapes in if this is something that concerns you.

How to keep vapes upright in storage?

Vape cartridges are small objects that can stand on their own with their flat base, but are often more stable when given support. Using the original vape packaging, a cardboard tube, or even lipstick holders can help keep your vapes supported and upright in storage so they’re ready to go whenever you want them.
